The Town of Macedon Police Department announced the successful award of two Federal Grants recently applied for relating to narcotics investigations equipment. One grant was with the Technology Transfer Program with the U.S. Army Proving Ground and the second was related to a Homeland Security Grant. The two grant awards were for very sophisticated audio and video surveillance equipment which is used to conduct drug investigations in the Town of Macedon and also in WayneNET member jurisdictions.
The equipment awarded totaled over $56,000 dollars and was provided to the Town of Macedon at a zero cost to tax payers. The equipment will allow all WayneNET member jurisdictions to benefit greatly as this technical equipment provides departments and investigators the ability to work their cases with modern, hightech equipment that their municipalities would not normally be able to purchase due to normal budgetary constraints. The two grant awards are an addition to two awards received last year with the Town of Macedon Police Department which totaled over $25,000 dollars. Due to the covert nature of the equipment awarded, the Town of Macedon Police Department was not able to offer specifics about the exact equipment that was awarded.
